Mainstreet Waynesboro to launch inaugural Snowman Stroll Festival

WAYNESBORO – Mainstreet Waynesboro is preparing to transform the downtown district into a winter celebration with the inaugural Snowman Stroll Festival, scheduled over two consecutive Saturdays in February.

The festivities begin Feb. 21 with the Snowman Sip & Stroll, a ticketed event designed for adults ages 21 and older. From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., participants can collect “passports” at 66 W. Main St. before embarking on a tour of downtown businesses. The stroll features pours of beer, wine, and spirits at various participating locations. Attendees who complete their passports can submit them at Triggers Table & Taproom for a chance to win prizes.

The festival shifts focus to all-ages programming on Feb. 28 with the Frosty Family Frolic. Running from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the day includes a scavenger hunt, arts and crafts, games, and STEAM classes held at the local library.

The event also features the Downtown Window Storywalk, an interactive outdoor reading experience from 10 to 12:30.The StoryWalk begins at 66 W. Main St. and is sponsored by B&D Lawn Care and Landscape. Readers get free copies of the book, “Pete the Cat Snow Daze,” thanks to book sponsor Doug Tengler, while supplies last, and will get the chance to meet some cats needing “furever” homes from the Antietam Humane Society.

Thanks to a partnership with the Waynesboro Theatre, “Frozen” will be showing at the theater at 75 W. Main St. at 2 p.m. Fans of all ages are invited to meet Elsa and Olaf from 12 to 1:30 at 66 W. Main St.

A centerpiece of the second Saturday is the Boro Chili Cook-Off at Main Street Park. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the public can pay $5 to taste and vote for their favorite recipes, with winners announced at 2 p.m.

The Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library is also picking up a snow shovel on Feb. 28 and hosting a STEAM party in the library’s MakerSpace from 10 a.m. to noon. This activity also is free!

Another fun aspect will be our Snowman Contest. We will have a dozen 6-foot “snowpeople” scattered around downtown to help get everyone in the mood for snow! Event sponsor Kim Mills of Coldwell Bank Real Estate will choose the “Best of Snow” while Facebook viewers will vote for the top winners in the Business and Non-Business categories.

Organizers emphasized that the dual-weekend format is designed to support local businesses while offering distinct experiences for both adult socializers and families.

Tickets for the Sip & Stroll are available via QR codes located on official event posters or through the Mainstreet Waynesboro website. We can’t wait to share these snowpeople with the crowds who will be joining us on Feb. 21 and 28.
