CHAMBERSBURG – Homeless Matters of Franklin County is urging residents to donate personal care items for local youth in need.
The nonprofit committee, focused on easing hardships for homeless families, is collecting donations through Nov. 17 at the Franklin County 11/30 Visitors Center. Items will support the Children’s Aid Society, which has served south-central Pennsylvania since 1884 by providing adoption, foster care, residential services and diagnostic support for ages 10 to 18.
“Small items can create special moments for these youth,” said a Homeless Matters representative. Suggested donations include ChapStick, lotion, deodorant, brushes, combs, pens, pencils, journals, art supplies, teen socks, hats, gloves, lip gloss, body sprays and hygiene products.
The center at 15 S. Main St. accepts items from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekends. For questions or off-hours drop-offs, readers may call 717-552-2977.
Homeless Matters aims to address urgent needs and foster success amid personal challenges. As the holiday season nears, organizers hope the drive inspires community sharing.
