High School Stat Leaders through Sept. 28

Chambersburg’s Julian Clark has no plans of vacating his spot as the area’s top high school runner any time soon.

Already the man on top of our cross country leaderboards, Clark expanded his lead even more, running a season PR in his final dual meet of the fall before dropping even more time with a 15:56 at the Carlisle Invitational last weekend. With the postseason rapidly approaching, Clark owns the distinction of being the area’s speediest cross country runner, nearly 30 seconds faster than the No. 2 runner on our list.

Also at the Carlisle Invite was a rare opportunity to see some of Franklin County’s top runners match up with the best of Washington County. Chambersburg’s Natalie Quinn crossed the finish line in 18:55 to claim our top area girls time, while North Hagerstown’s Kenzie Philp recorded a 19:14 in the same race for our No. 2 spot.

In volleyball, Abigail Eagler and her Greencastle-Antrim teammates continue to pile up big individual stats while the team dominates play on the court. Eagler leads locals with 234 kills and ranks second with 39 aces, just behind the 40 of fellow Blue Devil Kylie Kerns. Another Greencastle player, Jordyn Wagner, leads the area with 40 blocks. Chambersburg’s Kaylie Stull (243 digs) and Ava Zeigler (392 assists) have also set the bar high with big numbers in their respective stat categories.

Finally, North Hagerstown’s star continues to rise on the football field. The Hubs not only boast the area’s top scoring offense (29.5 points per game) and defense (10.8 ppg), their top three running backs — Michael Stewart (468 yards), Ty Fauntleroy (460), and Tai Gilliam (168) — all rank among the area’s best rushers this season. Davonte Scott, of Chambersburg, has quietly put together a solid season catching the ball and leads locals with 357 receiving yards.

Our fall sports leaderboard is based on stats for the seven teams in the Local.News1 coverage area — Waynesboro, Greencastle-Antrim, Chambersburg, Fairfield, North Hagerstown, South Hagerstown, and Smithsburg — that have been reported to maxpreps.com, athletic.net, penntrackxc.com, and directly to LN1.
