The unforgettable season, and career, of Greencastle-Antrim volleyball superstar Abigail Eagler finally came to an end last weekend in the state quarterfinals.
Eagler leaves behind quite a stat line from this fall: 406 kills, 72 aces, 273 digs, and 12 blocks. She finishes her campaign as the Local.News1 leader in aces and the area’s No. 2 performer in kills.
Eagler ranked No. 1 in kills for the majority of the season, but has finally been caught in just the last week by North Hagerstown senior Caydence Doolan, who has piled up 414 kills up to this point. Doolan’s Hubs are currently in the state semifinals, so she will have at least one more match to build on her impressive stats.
Our high school football leaderboards have taken a major turn, particularly when it comes to the area’s rushing leaders. Even without a stat update from last weekend’s playoff game, South Hagerstown’s Josiah “JoJo” Davis leads locals with 1,097 rushing yards over Greencastle-Antrim’s Blake Reuter (1,083) and North Hagerstown’s Ty Fauntleroy (1,057). Davis and Fauntleroy have at least one more week to resume their battle for the area rushing title, while Fauntleroy needs three TDs to tie Waynesboro’s Rayshawn Frazier-Hewitt (18 TDs) for the area lead.
Finally, cross country season came to an end last weekend, and our leaderboard wraps up with two North Hagerstown runners commanding the top spots. The Hubs’ Landon Call (15:41) and Kenzie Philp (18:41) posted the area’s top spots this fall.
Our fall sports leaderboard is based on stats for the seven teams in the Local.News1 coverage area — Waynesboro, Greencastle-Antrim, Chambersburg, Fairfield, North Hagerstown, South Hagerstown, and Smithsburg — that have been reported to maxpreps.com, athletic.net, penntrackxc.com, and directly to LN1.
