If you blinked you probably missed it, but the high school golf season is already hurtling toward its conclusion.
Play in the Mid-Penn Colonial Division wrapped up last week, with Shippensburg winning the division for the first time in program history. Greencastle-Antrim finished fifth, while Waynesboro placed sixth. The Tribe’s Landon Crable fired a 77 in the next-to-last Colonial meet of the season.
In Maryland, the Washington County Golf Tournament was held. South Hagerstown’s Luke Leisinger posted a 77 to tie for first, but ultimately fell on a playoff hole. Delaney Fuss, of North Hagerstown, carded a 79.
Stock is quickly rising for the soccer teams at Chambersburg. Last week, the Trojan boys kept their unbeaten season alive at 5-0-3 and extended their winning streak to three games, while the girls went 2-0 to continue their climb up the Commonwealth Division standings. Another area soccer team, the Fairfield girls, suffered their first loss of the season, but still rank as the No. 2 team in the District 3-1A power rankings.
Greencastle’s girls volleyball now resides at the top of the food chain in the Colonial Division after knocking off undefeated Waynesboro. North Hagerstown and Smithsburg are both off to unbeaten starts at 2-0.
In cross country, Chambersburg’s girls have established themselves as the team to beat in the Commonwealth. The Trojans topped Carlisle and Mifflin County last week to take over sole possession of the division at 3-0.
Finally, Smithsburg remains unbeaten in the world of girls flag football. The Leopards improved to 2-0 with a 21-6 victory over Williamsport.
