High School Scores and Standings from Sept. 29-Oct. 4

While every other high school golfer in our coverage area has packed their clubs up for the offseason, Fairfield sophomore Isabelle Studli will get to shoot at least one more round.

Studli competed in last weekend’s District 3-2A Tournament, held at Honey Run Golf Club, and carded an 83-82-165 for second place. By virtue of her podium finish, Studli has qualified for the PIAA Tournament, which will be held on Oct. 20-22 at Penn State.

While Studli has reached the highest stage, both of Greencastle-Antrim’s soccer teams are just hoping to qualify for the district tourney. The squads are on the outside looking in for the postseason, but both have mounted three-game winning streaks and are hoping to sneak into the playoffs down the home stretch.

Area cross country squads ran strong last weekend at both the Gettysburg and Frank Keyser Invitationals. Chambersburg’s girls topped a field of 26 teams at Gettysburg and got Top 25 finishes from Natalie Quinn (3rd in 18:45), Brook Boone (7th in 19:12), Lillian Spohn (10th in 19:44), and Kaylie Savage (24th in 20:18). The Trojan boys took fourth in the team standings and were led by a third-place finish in 15:47 from Julian Clark.

The Frank Keyser Invitational saw four Smithsburg runners — Michael Wynkoop (4th at 15:45), Dylan Herbst (7th in 16:02), Grayson Wynkoop (8th in 16:03), and Camilo Mellott (12th in 16:26) — place in the Top 15 to lead the Leopard boys to a team championship. Waynesboro’s Maddie Ruefle ran the girls race in 20:13 for a 10th-place finish.

Finally, Greencastle-Antrim’s volleyball squad clinched at least a share of the Mid-Penn Colonial Division last week when it defeated Waynesboro in a tightly contested match.

Below is a sport-by-sport look at how teams in the Local.News1 coverage area performed last week:
