Fairfield golfer Isabelle Studli can officially call herself a District 3-2A champion.
She made it look easy.
Competing at Honey Run Golf Club, Studli carded a 76-73-149 to run away for victory over Oley Valley’s Chloe Pridle (160) and Berks Catholic’s Ashley Sudderth (179). The junior star has qualified for states and will be joined by Aden Frank, who finished fourth in the boys tourney by shooting a 78-75-153.
In Maryland, North Hagerstown’s golf squad also punched its ticket to states by taking fourth at the District 1 4A/3A Championship, held at Black Rock Golf Course. The Hubs were led by the efforts of Delaney Fuss (75) and Tristan Stiffler (77).
On the cross country racepaths, the Gettysburg Invitational drew strong performances from Chambersburg and North Hagerstown. The Trojans’ Boston Vincenti finished sixth in 16:09.4 in the boys race, while the girls event featured strong performances from the Hubs’ Mackenzie Philp (2nd in 18:06.2) and Caroline Philp (3rd in 18:11.7), as well as Chambersburg’s Natalie Quinn (5th in 18:25.7).
Smithsburg’s cross country squad got a second-place finish from its boys at the Frank Keyser Invite. Dylan Herbst exploded for a 15:30.3 for the win, while teammate Grayson Wynkoop claimed fifth in 15:55.7.
Two more dominant Leopards squads — the football and girls soccer teams — reign above Washington County after big wins.
Below is a sport-by-sport look at how teams in the LocalNews1 coverage area performed last week:
