High school scores and standings from Oct. 13-18

Fall sports in Pennsylvania, with the exception of football, have officially reached the postseason. We’ve counted six area squads that will be dancing.

Chambersburg’s boys and girls soccer squads have both qualified for the District 3-4A Championships, while Fairfield’s girls enter the 1A tourney as the No. 2 seed. Greencastle-Antrim’s field hockey team posted a crucial 3-2 win over Chambersburg last week to sneak into districts as a No. 15 seed.

The Blue Devils will also be represented in the postseason by their girls volleyball squad, seeded No. 1 in the 3A tournament. Greencastle’s backyard rival, Waynesboro, has qualified for the 4A tourney as the No. 10 seed.

Just missing the playoffs was Greencastle-Antrim’s girls soccer team, a group that finished two spots out of the 3A tourney.

In Maryland, the cross country postseason is already underway, kicking off last week with the CMC Championships. Smithsburg’s boys captured the small school team title and were led on the course by Michael Wynkoop (3rd in 15:46) and Dylan Herbst (5th in 15:57). North Hagerstown’s Landon Call (6th in 15:41) and Carson Wilt (9th in 15:56) landed Top 10 finishes in the large school race.

The CMC girls races included Top 10 finishes from Smithsburg’s Maru Weidmyer (6th in 21:40) and Lohgan Viar (9th in 22:00) in the small school race, and from Kenzie Philp (5th in 18:41) and Anna Ranaman (8th in 19:18) in the large school race.

Below is a sport-by-sport look at how teams in the Local.News1 coverage area performed last week:
