It was a solid week on the baseball and softball diamonds for teams from the Local.News1 coverage area.
Perhaps no school had a bigger week than Greencastle-Antrim, with the Blue Devils’ baseball and softball teams each going 2-0 to surge to the front of their respective packs in the Mid-Penn Colonial Division.
Chambersburg softball’s 1-2 start ot the season is now a distant memory, as a big week has the Trojans on a three-game winning streak. North Hagerstown’s baseball team has been even hotter, with the Hubs going 3-0 last week to improve to 7-0.
Waynesboro’s boys and girls track and field squads each preserved undefeated dual records last week. It wasn’t easy, especially for the Tribe boys, who survived a 75.5-74.5 victory over Shippensburg on Thursday.
North and South Hagerstown’s track programs had successful weekends on the invitational scene. The Hubs took on the John Handley Invitational in Virginia and returned home with two girls champions in Rian Johnson (mile, 4:53.55) and Lauren Stine (3,200, 10:39.52). The Rebels traveled to Francis Scott Key for the Red, White, and Blue Classic, with Chloe Gietka conquering the long jump with a leap of 14-3.
Finally, the South Hagerstown girls tennis team is off to a 5-0 start this season after the Rebels won both of their matches last week.
Below is a sport-by-sport look at how teams in the Local.News1 coverage area performed last week:
