Graduations have been held and summer vacations are already underway, but for one area squad — the Greencastle-Antrim softball team — the season keeps on churning forward.
The Blue Devils opened the PIAA Class 5A Tournament with convincing victories over Marple Newton (9-1) and North Pocono (3-0) to punch their ticket to next week’s semifinal round. If Greencastle can find a way to defeat West Chester East on Monday, the Blue Devils will play for a state championship on Friday.
Another area softball team, Chambersburg, saw its season end in the 6A quarterfinals with a 4-3 loss to Hempfield Area.
