The Chambersburg wrestling squad’s superb dual season has been extended by at least one more match.
That’s because Matt Mentzer’s squad took care of business with a strong showing at last week’s District 3 Class 3A Team Championships. The No. 10-seeded Trojans blasted through the first three rounds with wins over Donegal, Central York and Elco before falling to Gettysburg in the title match.
Chambersburg advances to the PIAA 3A Team Championships, with the Trojans kicking off the tourney with a road match at District 1 champion Boyertown.
Basketball’s regular season is coming to an end, but Waynesboro’s boys and girls are battling hard to secure a spot in the 16-team District 3 6A dance. Both Tribe squads are riding five-game winning streaks, but the victories will need to keep coming for the teams to have a chance at qualifying.
Speaking of Waynesboro, the Tribe’s boys and girls swimming squads both wrapped up perfect dual seasons at 10-0 after topping James Buchanan last week.
