The high school fall sports season took another step forward last week with football, soccer, and tennis campaigns kicking off.
On the gridiron, Chambersburg opened with a 27-15 win over Gettysburg, while Waynesboro began its season with a 27-21 victory over backyard rival Greencastle-Antrim.
Fairfield’s boys soccer squad is off to a winning start after surging to a 3-2 triumph over Our Lady of the Cross, while Chambersburg’s girls tennis team bounced back from a season-opening loss with a 4-1 victory over Lower Dauphin.
Believe it or not, the high school golf season is already approaching its halfway point. Waynesboro’s golf squad moved up to fourth place in the Mid-Penn Colonial Division, a jump that was fueled by a third-place finish in the division meet last Monday. That meet, which was hosted by Waynesboro Country Club, saw top finishes from Greencastle’s Camden Eby (4th place, 78) and Bryce Davidson (t-10th, 81), as well as Waynesboro’s Landon Crable (t-10th, 81) and Caiden Shacreaw (t-10th, 81).
