North Hagerstown’s 1-2 punch of distance runners Rian Johnson and Lauren Stine showcased their track talents last weekend at the renowned Gator Invitational, hosted by Reservoir High School.
Competing in a 44-team field with hundreds of athletes in attendance, Johnson blasted off for wins in the 800 (2:13.99) and 1,600 (4:50.47), while Stine surged to victory in the 3,200 (10:41.08) and landed a fifth-place finish in the 1,600 (5:09.93). Anna Chamberlin added a third-place finish in the high jump (5-2) to lift North Hagerstown to a fifth-place showing in the team standings.
On the boys side, the Hubs got Top 5 finishes from James Jackson (3rd in long jump, 21-1.75) and Walker Mason (8th in 3,200, 9:48.12).
Moving to the baseball and softball diamonds, both of Greencastle-Antrim’s teams had solid weeks. There is now a three-way tie for first place in baseball’s Mid-Penn Colonial Division after the Blue Devils posted victory over division leader Boiling Springs. As for the Greencastle softball squad, the girls went 3-0 last week and hold a comfortable lead over the Colonial.
Finally, Chambersburg’s boys lacrosse team has some pep in its step after going 2-0 last week with convincing wins over CD East and Mifflin County.
