Girl Power was the name of the game on the wrestling mat at last weekend’s Battle of the Braids, hosted by West Perry.
The all-girls youth tournament drew the attention of three Franklin County squads, with three area grapplers nailing down championships: Chambersburg’s Atlee Spidell (12U) and Greencastle-Antrim’s Harper Duffey (12U) and Nallah Dickson (10U).
Spidell crushed her competition at 103-115 pounds, winning all three of her round-robin matches by fall. Duffey posted four falls at 83-85, including two pins in less than a minute, while Dickson planted three opponents on her way to the crown at 90-95.
Addilynn Warnick, of Waynesboro, was a 12U runner-up.
Northern York topped the field of 47 teams with 205.5 points. Greencastle (51 points) took ninth, with Chambersburg (24) and Waynesboro (18) taking 17th and 18th, respectively.
