The Greencastle-Antrim Blue Devils softball team is headed back to the PIAA Class 5A state championship for just the second time in school history—and they’re going in style! After a commanding 13-0 victory over West Chester East in Monday’s semifinal at Hershey High School, the Blue Devils are now just one win away from a state title.
From the first pitch, Greencastle-Antrim (now 22-3) was unstoppable. The team’s powerhouse lineup, led by Colonial Division All-Stars Meadow Gambacurta, Caroline Logsdon, and Kiersten Swain, delivered both at the plate and in the field. The Blue Devils wasted no time taking control, racking up runs early and often while stifling the Vikings’ high-powered offense.
Greencastle-Antrim will now travel to State College on Friday to face either Penn-Trafford or West Allegheny for the PIAA Class 5A state championship. With their dominant semifinal win, the Blue Devils have proven they are a force to be reckoned with.
Coach Mark DeCarli, recently named Mid-Penn Colonial Division Coach of the Year, has guided the Blue Devils to one of the best seasons in program history. The team’s 22-3 record, combined with a dominant postseason run, has made this spring one to remember for Greencastle-Antrim softball.
As the high school sports season draws to a close, the Blue Devils are set to make their mark on the biggest stage. Will they bring home the state title? Tune in Friday to find out!
