Game of the week: Trojans face must-win game against Altoona

If the District 3-6A football postseason kicked off today, Chambersburg would sneak into the playoffs as the 10th, and final, entrant.

But with three weeks remaining in the regular season, it is far from a guarantee that the Trojans will be dancing in Week 11. Every game will make a difference down the stretch, and that starts with Friday’s home contest against the Altoona Mountain Lions.

We’ve selected this Mid-Penn Commonwealth Division matchup as our Game of the Week.

To stay alive in the playoff chase, Chambersburg will likely need a win over Altoona, a squad which has beaten the Trojans five years in a row. Chambersburg’s last win over the Mountain Lions, a 56-24 triumph, came in 2019. Altoona, boasting a multi-pronged running game, won’t make things easy when it visits Trojan Stadium.

In the weeks and months to come throughout the high school sports season, we plan on spotlighting multiple teams and sports with our Game of the Week. Any big upcoming games or matches we should know about? Send suggestions to Andy Sandrik via email at [email protected].
