It’s going to be hard for Colton Friese to top the season he had last year, when he was honored by the INEX Racing Series as the 2024 Legend Car Semi-Pro Dirt National Champion.
This distinction brings many expectations to the track, but Friese, of Spring Run, showed he’s ready for every challenge that comes his way after a winning weekend at BAPS Motor Speedway. Starting from the eighth spot in the East Coast Legends 15-lap feature, Friese zoomed to Victory Lane over Carlisle’s Jeremy Ott and Gettysburg’s Logan Carbaugh. Friese was a big mover all day, as he also took second in his heat race after starting from the ninth position.
Friese was joined in the Top 10 by a father and son from Fairfield: Seth and Lincoln Kearchner. Seth moved from eighth to first in his race, before taking fifth in the feature. Lincoln claimed eighth in the feature.
Logan Jones, of Greencastle, won the B Main before moving from 21st to 14th in the feature to tie with Friese for the Hard Charger Award.
Also at BAPS, Greencastle’s Scott Palmer won his heat race in the Limited Late Models program, before his evening came to an end in the feature with a DNF for 17th.
Racing was rained out at Williams Grove last weekend, while no local drivers were present for race programs at Port Royal and Lincoln.
Action resumes at all of those speedways this weekend, with Hagerstown Speedway also set to open its season. Path Valley will host practice the next two weekends before kicking off its schedule on April 4-5 for the Claybreaker Season Opener.
Below is a feature-by-feature look at races from last weekend that featured drivers from the Local.News1 coverage area:
