FC Fire Chiefs’ Association receives funding

CHAMBERSBURG– The Franklin County Fire Chiefs’ Association received a $100,000 grant through the Franklin County IMPACT! Grant Program.

With this funding, the Franklin County Fire Chiefs’ Association will be able to complete the first step in the upgrade of the Franklin County Public Safety Training Center, which encompasses improving the water supply availability to enhance the capabilities of firefighting training at the facility.

Funding through Franklin County’s IMPACT! Grant Program was available to nonprofit organizations, municipalities and municipal authorities located within Franklin County to support local recovery efforts in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Franklin County Commissioners distributed grants for 127 projects across Franklin County. The IMPACT! Grant Program was made possible through the federal American Rescue Plan Act.

The Franklin County Fire Chiefs’ opened the Franklin County Public Safety Training Center on October 2003 and is operated by a Board of Directors, who started plans to upgrade and expand the facility to expand the capabilities for public safety training. The first step is installing a water meter vault on the municipal water line, as well as extend the current water line for additional fire hydrants, allowing firefighters to practice and perform more scenarios that they will encounter during emergency incidents.

The Franklin County Fire Chiefs’ and the Franklin County Public Safety Training Center’s Board of Directors are very grateful for the County Commissioners’ decision to fund this project and want to say “thank you” to them.

To find out how you may able to assist with the upgrade and improvements to the Franklin County Public Safety Training Center, so that we can accomplish our goal of providing the Emergency Services within Franklin County with the highest level of training available to prepare them for the real incidents, please either email [email protected] or call 717-658-7077.
