Calvin Myers could have quit after a winless start to his college wrestling career.
But the Waynesboro grad didn’t throw in the towel for the Albright Lions. Instead, Myers learned from his losses and improved upon his game.
Eight consecutive wins later, Myers is wrestling at a high level and is one step closer to becoming Albright’s full-time starter at 157 pounds.
In College Corner this month, we’ll take a closer look at the exploits of the red-hot Myers, while also shining the spotlight on other former Waynesboro athletes — we’ve counted 58 in all — competing at the next level. This list includes J.B. Bonner, who is the top scorer for the men’s swimming squad at Saint Mary’s College of Maryland, as well as Ryan Shaffer, who has started in every game for the McDaniel men’s basketball team this winter.
In the months to come, College Corner will shift focus to Greencastle-Antrim and Chambersburg, before circling back to Waynesboro.
Are we missing anybody? Additions for College Corner can be sent to Andy Sandrik via email at [email protected].
