Record snowfall and frigid temperatures have prompted widespread closures across the Tri-State area for Monday, Jan. 26.
School closings:
Waynesboro Area School District: Closed
Greencastle-Antrim School District: Closed
Chambersburg Area School District: Closed
Fairfield School District: Closed
Washington County Public Schools: Closed
Hagerstown Community College: Closed
Wilson College: Closed
Washington County government offices and all nonessential facilities will be closed, along with Washington County public schools, which also announced closures for Tuesday, Jan. 27. School employees are under Code Red for emergency communication on Monday.
Washington County Transit will not operate Monday due to hazardous road conditions, and the Washington County Circuit Court will also be closed. Jurors should call 301-739-3440 Monday evening to check service status for Tuesday. The University System of Maryland at Hagerstown will be closed Monday as well.
In Franklin County, government and court facilities will be closed Monday. Essential personnel should report as scheduled. County employees can call 717-264-4125 for updated announcements.

Hagerstown’s REACH has a cold weather shelter, 140 W. Franklin St.,301-733-2371 (The information says adults only and that those sheltered must leave after breakfast, and they could not be reached at that phone number at mid-morning today.)
Maryland residents also can dial 211 for homeless services.
Meritus Health’s Valley Mall Urgent Care and After Hours Pediatrics were closed Sunday, while the Crayton Boulevard Urgent Care remains open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Washington County Free Library closed all locations Sunday in response to the storm.
