Capitol Theatre’s winter season shines in Chambersburg

The Capitol Theatre Center’s winter season is packed with entertainment for all ages, featuring music, comedy and dance events designed to warm up the cold months in downtown Chambersburg. Tickets for all events are available online at thecapitoltheatre.org or by calling the box office at 717-263-0202.

The season kicks off Jan. 30 with the “Snowfall Ball,” a family-friendly event celebrating IceFest. Attendees can enjoy dance lessons, a Kid’s Korner craft area and a family dance party in the theater’s Wood Center with sweeping views of the ice sculptures downtown.

On Feb. 7, the third annual “Gal’entine’s Event” brings laughs with nationally touring comedienne Karen Morgan, a former attorney turned stand-up performer featured on Nickelodeon’s “Search for the Funniest Mom in America.” Pop-up shops, wine and savory treats add to the evening’s festive atmosphere.

Bluegrass fans can head to the theater Feb. 28 for “Mountain Music & Moonshine,” featuring regional acts Ironwood Drive and Remington Ryde. Audiences can pair the performances with local spirits from Cold Spring Hollow Distillery and GearHouse Brewing Co.

The celebration continues March 13 with the “Irish Happy Hour” in the Wood Center, featuring Celtic favorites Across the Pond, Irish food, drinks, and dancers. Table reservations are required for this lively 21+ event.

On March 26, “James Garner’s Tribute to Johnny Cash” returns to the Capitol stage, bringing the “Man in Black’s” biggest hits to life — including “I Walk the Line” and “Ring of Fire.”

Wrapping up the early spring slate, “Philadelphia Freedom: A Tribute to Elton John” takes the stage April 11, featuring Doug Delescavage as Elton John, complete with iconic piano skills and flamboyant flair.

The Capitol Theatre Center, a 700-seat community arts venue, continues its Bridging the Gap campaign this season to support operations and programming. Donations are tax-deductible and help maintain the theater as a vital part of Franklin County’s arts scene.
