Perhaps the best advertisement Greencastle’s Brian Booze can have for his business — Booze Brothers Performance — is himself.
That’s because the auto parts and services dealer, who specializes in racing vehicles, has been firing on all cylinders with his performance on the race track. Competing at Hagerstown Speedway on Saturday, Booze raced to victory in the Late Model Sportsman feature. It was the second win of the season for Booze, who has qualified for 15 features this season and landed 11 Top 5 finishes. His performance sealed a points championship.
The path to Victory Lane was a smooth one for Booze, who turned in the fastest time of hot laps before winning his heat race. Booze started on the pole for the 20-lap feature and didn’t relinquish his position, cruising to the checkered flag over Codey Breeden and Austin Lathroum. Cody Kershner, from Greencastle, took sixth in the race.
Hagerstown’s Keith Reed surged to a win in the Pure Stocks, defeating a field that included Greencastle’s Dave Friedrich (9th). The Crown Vic feature saw Graham Brezler, of Hagerstown, take eighth.
BAPS Motor Speedway hosted race programs on both Wednesday and Saturday, drawing the attention of two area drivers. Fayetteville’s Lance Dewease took fourth in the 410 Sprints on Wednesday, before Greencastle’s Scott Palmer registered a win in the Limited Late Models on Saturday. It took some effort from Palmer, who drove from ninth to third in his heat race, before going from sixth to first in the 20-lap feature.
Two Greencastle drivers, Gary Stuhler and DJ Myers, were in action at Port Royal Speedway for the Butch Renninger Memorial. Stuhler took fourth in the Super Late Models race, while Myers posted a sixth-place finish in the Limited Late Models feature.
At Lincoln Speedway, Hagerstown’s Dylan Shatzer finished eighth in the 305 Sprints.
Path Valley Speedway had a weekend off from racing.
