The drive home from last weekend’s Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling Youth State Championships at Harrisburg Farm Arena was just a little bit sweeter for three area youth wrestlers: Waynesboro’s Aven Beltz, Fairfield’s Lainey Miller, and Greencastle’s Ethan Allen.
All three of those wrestlers landed on the awards stand, with Beltz and Miller leading the way with podium finishes in the 8U girls division. Beltz finished third at 45 pounds, while Miller placed third at 76 pounds. Allen, a 125-pounder competing in the 12U boys division, racked up five wins on his way to a fourth-place finish.
Beltz, Miller, and Allen highlighted a group of eight wrestlers from the Local.News1.org coverage area who competed at PJWs. Waynesboro’s Noah Swope (3-2) and Chambersburg’s Frankie Bryan (3-2) posted winning records in their trip to state.
Wrestling action heats up again in two weeks, when Waynesboro hosts the Middle Atlantic Wrestling Association preliminary district tournament on April 5.
