Over the span of two days, Kevin Bard played the roles of both the hunter and the hunted. The Chambersburg driver succeeded both times.
Competing at Path Valley Speedway last weekend, Bard claimed victory in the Thunder Cars feature on Friday, before duplicating the accomplishment one day later. While Bard’s final results were the same, his paths to Victory Lane were quite different.
Bard started on the pole on Friday, but was hotly pursued all night by the field and had to survive mulitple restarts to maintain his positition. With four laps remaining, Bard could feel the heat with Jeremy Ott and Fayetteville’s Cameron Defenderfer closing in, but Bard held off the drivers to secure the $600 win. Roger Traxler, of Fayetteville, finished in 10th.
On Saturday, Bard spent the night chasing Jackson Eutzy, who led for 19 laps. Momentum shifted following a caution flag on the 17th lap, which allowed Bard to make a run on Eutzy. He finally overtook the race leader down the home stretch and held on for the win. Defenderfer finished third, while St. Thomas’ Doug Sales landed in 10th.
Also at Path Valley on Saturday, Brent Shearer topped a 270 Sprints field that included Greencastle’s Bradyn Kuhn (2nd), Fayetteville’s Cory Myers (6th), and Fort Loudon’s Zach Glass (10th). Cole Dewease, of Fayetteville, competed in the 600 Sprints and took third.
The Nathan Durboraw Tribute, hosted by Hagerstown Speedway, featured a local winner in St. Thomas’ Ryan Walls, who conquered the Legends race. Walls topped a group that included Fairfield’s Seth Kearchner (2nd) and Lincoln Kearchner (3rd), as well as Chambersburg’s Devin Friese (4th) and Kelby Friese (8th).
Bo Gordon Jr., of Waynesboro, took on the 358 Sprints at Lincoln Speedway and finished 10th.
Below is a track-by-track, feature-by-feature look at races from last weekend that included drivers from the Local.News1 coverage area.
