CHAMBERSBURG – Visitors to Chambersburg can enjoy a stunning display of sunflowers at Lesher Poultry Farm, where fields are currently in peak bloom. The sunflower fields are along Rt. 914 (Swamp Fox Road), near the convergence of Rt. 316 and Rt. 914. This family-owned farm began planting sunflowers in 2011 as an alternative crop and has since expanded to more than 200 acres, attracting thousands of visitors each summer. WAYNESBORO – Waynesboro came alive on Saturday, Aug. 31, as nearly 100 vendors welcomed around 1,300 visitors to Main Street Park for a community event celebrating young entrepreneurs and small businesses. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm as children showcased their customer service and sales skills, learning valuable lessons in calculating totals and making change. This gathering not only highlighted the spirit of local commerce but also provided an educational experience for all involved.
In a thrilling matchup, Waynesboro (1-0) overcame Greencastle-Antrim (0-1) with a last-minute touchdown, sealing a 29-27 victory. After trailing 12-2 at halftime, Waynesboro rallied with key plays, including a 62-yard run from Ben Williams and touchdowns from Tank Benedict and Anthony Auscherman. Greencastle fought back to take a late lead with a touchdown pass from Sean Marshall to Carter McCauley, but Rashawn Fraser-Hewitt’s 15-yard run in the final seconds clinched the win for the Indians.
