GREENCASTLE – The Greencastle Legion Grounds buzzed with excitement for the highly anticipated Fall Fest. Held Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., attendees enjoyed a vibrant atmosphere filled with over 25 food trucks and more than 200 retail vendors. Families delighted in carnival rides provided by Snyder’s Attractions, making it a memorable day for all who attended. The event not only showcased local cuisine and crafts but also fostered community spirit, drawing visitors from near and far to celebrate the season together.
WAYNESBORO- The 2nd Annual Waynesboro Recreation Board Trunk-or-Treat took place at Waynesboro Memorial Park, where families gathered to enjoy a festive evening. Attendees brought their own bags to fill with treats while indulging in delicious food truck offerings. The event featured local sponsors and organizations, including the Waynesboro Police Department and Fire Department, who handed out goodies to excited children dressed as ghouls and goblins. Many participants decorated their cars, contributing to the festive atmosphere as families settled in for a frightfully fun experience.
The Smithsburg Cider Fest celebrated the town’s rich agricultural heritage and marked the end of the apple harvest season. The event featured a vibrant street party filled with local vendors, food trucks, and a beer garden. Attendees enjoyed live music from the Fabulous Hub Caps and DJ Wetzel, while families participated in apple pressing demonstrations and free face painting. On October 19, the Fort Ritchie Craft Bazaar took place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., showcasing over 60 vendors. Attendees explored a variety of unique items, ranging from home décor and holiday gifts to homemade candles, foods, and children’s toys. The event provided a vibrant atmosphere for community members to find special treasures and support local artisans.
WAYNESBORO- Families in Washington Township gathered for a festive evening at the annual Trunk or Treat event hosted by the Washington Township Police Department on Friday, Oct. 18. From 5 to 7 p.m., children dressed as ghosts and ghouls enjoyed a safe trick-or-treating experience, engaging with local first responders and community partners, including Blue Ridge Fire & Rescue and the Franklin County Coroner’s Office. The event aimed to foster community spirit and provide a fun-filled atmosphere for families in the area.

The occasion celebrated the 50th anniversary of the 1974-75 undefeated field hockey team, honoring its players, including seniors Diane Deegan Bittle, Trina Detrich Wetherald, Denise Ditch, Pam Hind Rowland, Judy Shank Reitz, Judy Welty Grier and the late Tresa Rock.
