CARROLL VALLEY – A stream near Specialty Granules LLC’s Charmian Plant in Blue Ridge Summit will soon be more hospitable to the fish and macroinvertebrates that call it home. SGI, a Standard Industries company, is partnering with the Adams County Conservation District to complete a stream improvement project in Hamiltonban Township later this month. FCMC was honored with a Platinum designation through the Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania’s 2024 Donate Life Pennsylvania Hospital Challenge. HARRISBURG — The State Transportation Commission has adopted a new 12-Year Transportation Program that makes $88 billion available for improvements to roads, bridges, transit systems, airports and railroads, state transportation officials said. This marks a 5 percent increase from the current plan, they noted. The plan, PennDOT’s official mid-range planning tool, lists statewide planned projects across all modes of transportation and assigns funding, while also highlighting some of PennDOT’s initiatives and accomplishments over the past two years. That’s why WellSpan is proud to have 30 amazing students helping out at our hospitals as part of our Student Volunteer Program. HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Nicole Abuhamada has been selected as the new executive director of the Washington County Arts Council, the council board of directors announced. Abuhamada is an interdisciplinary artist and has worked as a gallery manager for Doug Zaruba in Downtown Hagerstown and a creative arts program manager for MADE by Itineris in Baltimore. She expressed exciting ideas for new initiatives to help WCAC grow in new directions, expand its footprint in the community and strengthen support for community artists, arts council board members said.
