Kristin, whose life and promising nursing career were tragically cut short in 2010, is remembered for her unwavering commitment and passion for nursing. Franklin County officials are set to commemorate the completion of the Hickory Run Road Bridge rehabilitation project with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 2 p.m. The event will take place at the newly renovated bridge in Lurgan Township, Franklin County. The Hickory Run Road Bridge, located approximately 1.3 miles northeast of Orrstown Borough and 5.5 miles west of Shippensburg, has undergone extensive rehabilitation work. HAGERSTOWN – The Washington County Division of Emergency Services has announced the approval of the transition of the Hancock Rescue Squad EMS staff into county employment. The plan also is to hire eight firefighters/fire apparatus operators to allow dedicated staffing for Hancock Rescue Squad 59. The Hancock Rescue Squad unit plays a critical role in EMS, rescue and firefighting operations in the remote Hancock area, emergency services officials noted. HAGERSTOWN – Linden Hall Farm, a family farm since 1875, has been named Farm of the Year by the Washington County Department of Business and Economic Development. The Farm of the Year program recognizes a Washington County farm that showcases excellence in agriculture and promotes a greater understanding of the challenges faced by today’s farmers.
