CHAMBERSBURG – The Chambersburg Area School District has introduced a program aimed at fostering community involvement and student success. Launched this year, CMS CARES (Community, Achievement, Readiness, Enrichment and Success) seeks to engage students in meaningful community activities while providing academic support and enrichment opportunities. The program’s inaugural CARES Day, held in September, saw students participating in a variety of activities designed to benefit both the school and the wider community. CHAMBERSBURG – On Saturday, Oct. 19, Philadelphia Avenue will be closed to traffic at Commerce Street south to Chambers Street, due to a detour for traffic for the Applefest event downtown. The hours of the closure will be from 6 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Residents will still be able to access the area from Wolf Avenue. The closure for the event will also include Main Street from King Street to Washington Street and Lincoln Way from Second Street to Black Avenue. Queen Street will remain open for all traffic.
