J. Wayne Johnson, 68, of Mercersburg, PA passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at WellSpan York Hospital surrounded by his family. Born September 30, 1954 in Olney, MD he was the son of Shirley (Linthicum) Johnson Winegardner and the late Paul Curtis Johnson.
Wayne grew up in Damascus, MD until moving to Pennsylvania in 1970. He was a graduate of James Buchanan High School with the Class of 1972. He enjoyed all aspects of farming and loved flying his own airplanes.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife; Sandy (Freysz) Johnson; three daughters, Courtney Dady (Dean), Meredith Kretz (Trevor), and Grace Johnson; a son Jeremiah Johnson (Megan); eleven grandchildren; a brother, Curtis Johnson; a sister, MaryAnn Bohn; and aunt, Debbie Linthicum.
We hope that you can join us in celebrating the life of J. Wayne Johnson as the family will be hosting a casual come-and-go visitation on Saturday, October 7, 2023, from 9-10:30am directly followed by a celebration of life service. Events will take place at Two Top Ruritan, 12270 Two Top Road in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania. Light brunch will be provided.
