Greencastle-Antrim’s field hockey squad got a taste of winning last fall, and with a couple of senior stars back to lead the way once again this season, there’s no reason to believe the Blue Devils can’t once again make an impact in 2026.
Natalie Medina is an offensive juggernaut who not only led Greencastle in scoring, but the entire LocalNews1.org coverage area as well. She’s back for the Blue Devils, as is forward Rowan Shubert, giving Greencastle plenty of firepower to make a run this fall.
The Blue Devils aren’t the only ones returning some heavy hitters. We’ve counted nine local field hockey players to watch in the upcoming season as part of our “Sneak Peek” series, designed to showcase some of the area’s most talented athletes.
In the weeks to come we will contine to share “peeks” at the fall season before we eventually transition to full team previews.
Below is a look at our Top 9 field hockey players to watch in 2026:
Natalie Medina, Senior, Greencastle-Antrim
Medina was one of the most dangerous scorers in the Mid-Penn Colonial Division and was recognized as such when the division recognized her as a First Team selection at forward.
A team captain for the Blue Devils, she was voted as the Team MVP following a campaign that saw her compile a team-high 27 goals to go along with eight assists.
Medina was no stranger to big moments last fall. She posted hat tricks in three consecutive games and scored the game-winning goal in a 3-2 win over Chambersburg to wrap up the regular season.
Medina also competes for the Maryland Legacy U19 club team.
Rowan Shubert, Senior, Greencastle-Antrim
A forward who began playing field hockey in seventh grade, Shubert has only been getting better with each season on the field for the Blue Devils.
In 2024, she was named as Greencastle’s Most Improved Player, an honor she would receive once again in 2025. The Blue Devils’ captain was also selected to the All-Colonial squad as a Second Team pick at forward following a season where she recorded 11 goals and 13 assists.
Shubert, who doubles as a player for the Maryland Legacy U19 club team, can also play midfield.
Reagan Gass, Senior, Fairfield
No matter where you put Gass on the field — midfield, defender, or forward — she’s going to impact the game.
The versatility of Gass, a YAIAA Division III First Team selection, will be a strength as the Knights march into the season looking for their first win since 2024.
Lily Novonty, Senior, Fairfield
Novonty could have thrown a fit when she was asked last season to make the switch from the midfield/foward positions to defense.
But instead of complaining, she dominated, and earned a selection to the YAIAA Division III First Team.
Rylee Fitzgerald, Senior, Fairfield
Fitzgerald, a YAIAA Division III Honorable Mention selection, is back to play defense for the Knights.
That’s good news for Fairfield, which should show some improvement with the return of its key back line players.
Bella Richard, Senior, Fairfield
The Knights should be stingier on defense with the return of Richard.
A YAIAA Division III Honorable Mention selection, Richard will also be trusted to occasionally scoot up to midfield to help push the ball up the field.
Shay Trumpower, Senior, Waynesboro
The Maidens will be counting on Trumpower, a midfielder, to once again play at an All-Star level.
Trumpower is Waynesboro’s primary scoring option out of the midfield and has been well-represented on the All-Colonial squad as a Third Team selection in 2024 and a Second Team pick in 2025.
If Trumpower can take another step forward this fall, she’ll not only have a chance to pursue First Team honors, but also an opportunity to elevate a Maidens program that has struggled in recent years.
Reagan Barrett, Senior, Chambersburg
With superior offensive instincts, Barrett gives Chambersburg a chance to win every time she steps on the field as a forward.
Barrett is a natural in the shooting circle, and has a knack for generating multi-goal performances for the Trojans.
Of course, Chambersburg fans know Barrett not only for her contributions on the field hockey field, but also her status as one of the school’s all-time greats in lacrosse. Once she waves goodbye to field hockey, Barrett will turn her attention toward the sport she will eventually be playing at Shepherd University.
Natalie Fitz, Sophomore, Chambersburg
Fitz, a midfielder, is the youngest player on our list.
A fearless player who also competes in the pole vault for Chambersburg’s track squad, Fitz already owns varsity goals in field hockey and will be expected to play an even bigger role for the Trojans this season.
