All Ages, All Stages, One Fight.
That’s the message of organizers of the 44th Waynesboro Area Cancer Auction Saturday, March 28, encouraging the community to come together and make an impact.
The auction will be held in Green Grove Gardens, 1032 Buchanan Trail East, Greencastle. Doors open at 3 p.m., the silent auction starts at 4 p.m. and oral bidding begins at 5:30 p.m. Tables are first come, first served, and food and beverages will be available for purchase.
“We (the auction steering committee) came up with the design after discussing various types of cancer that have affected local people and how diverse the need is,” offered co-chair Ali Huber.
“And we’re still seeking donations and volunteers,” added co-chair Kristyn Martin. “You can be a solicitor for donations or help on auction night – at the silent tables or check out, etc. – as well as on the steering committee. If you want to help, we will find a spot for you.”
Last year the auction raised a record-breaking $122,000 and donations were presented to Breast Cancer Awareness Inc., Four Diamonds, Wellspan Oncology Bridge Fund, American Cancer Society to sponsor one room at the Hope Lodge Baltimore, and one room at the Hope Lodge Philadelphia for an entire year, LiveStrong Chambersburg YMCA, Waynesboro Area YMCA Cancer Support Program, Cumberland Valley Breast Cancer Alliance and WACA Direct, a program that allocates funds to Franklin County residents undergoing treatment. The application process opens after the auction and those selected each receive the same amount.
Admission to the auction is free and the atmosphere is casual, with an abundance of silent and oral auction items available, according to Huber and Martin.
Clothing with the auction logo is available from Infinity Designs, 1500 E. Main St., Waynesboro, on its website at: goinfinitydesigns.com.
“You can pay for shipping or pick it up at the store,” Martin said. “We have long- and short-sleeved T-shirts, V-neck short-sleeved T-shirts, youth T-shirts and crew neck and hooded sweatshirts,” she added.
Area residents are encouraged to donate new items, handmade crafts, gift baskets, clean vintage/antique pieces; experiences such as tickets to sporting events concerts, dinners, vacation getaways or unique services to a business; as well as underwriting a prearranged experience package.

“For our repeat donors, thank you for your past generosity,” Huber said. “Whether you donate, volunteer or attend the auction, your support provides vital relief to those in our community facing their toughest battle,” added Martin.
