FORT LOUDOUN – The Fort Loudoun Historic Site will transport visitors back to 1775 with its annual Tavern Night event Saturday, Oct. 25, from 4 to 8 p.m.
The free evening, billed as a candlelit celebration of 18th-century pastimes, features live Celtic music by the band Across the Pond, along with food, axe throwing, fencing demonstrations, games and door prizes. A bonfire will add to the fall ambiance, drawing families and history enthusiasts alike.
Organizers describe the site as “Franklin County’s Williamsburg,” inviting attendees to immerse themselves in colonial-era fun. Highlights include a “What side are you on?” quiz to determine loyalties between independence supporters and crown loyalists, and a special masquerade mask craft session for children at 6 p.m.
The Franklin County PA250 Bell will be on display, and the evening kicks off the site’s 2026 fundraising raffle. Admission is free, though donations are encouraged to support preservation efforts.
Families are urged to bring friends for an evening of music, games and historical intrigue at 1720 North Brooklyn Road. The event is sponsored by the Franklin County Visitors Bureau, Olympia Candy Kitchen, York Brewery Products and anonymous donors.
