HAGERSTOWN – Somewhat hidden away in a strip mall near Maugansville, you’ll find Los Primos Mexican Restaurant. The food is tasty, and the menu extensive, with both Mexican and Peruvian menus, a special weekend brunch menu, lunch specials and a menu for the kiddos.
The new owners, Jorge Medina and Wendy Orea took over the establishment last summer. Once you enter the dining room, you feel like you’re in a fiesta!
We seated ourselves and were then greeted by Wendy. We were offered a Mexican menu and a Peruvian menu. We went for the Mexican menu.
Of course we had to try the margarita – served the traditional style with salt on the rim. We also went for a Corona with lime. We were served complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was tasty and tangy. We also ordered a side of guacamole topped with some pico.
For the main course we had Enchiladas Chipotle – three steak or chicken covered enchiladas topped with a creamy red sauce. Served with lettuce, sour cream, tomatoes and rice. We usually can’t eat it all. But, this time we made an exception.
We also tried the Burrito La Costa – a 10-inch tortilla filled with shrimp, onions and bell peppers and covered with cheese, served with rice. Also, we ordered a side of refried beans.
The restaurant also offers Peruvian breakfast specials and lunch specials like:
Beef burrito, rice and refried beans
Beef enchilada, rice and refried beans
Chile relleno, rice and refried beans
Beef burrito, rice and beef taco
Beef enchilada, beef taco and rice or refried beans
Cheese quesadilla, taco and rice
Beef burrito, beef enchilada and rice or refried beans
Chile relleno, taco and rice or refried beans
We were treated like family by Wendy and Jorge. The food is flavorful and on point. Dinner and drinks won’t break the bank. If you’re in the mood for Mexican or Peruvian, you might want to put Los Primos Mexican Restaurant on your list.
