WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – The new 2025 refuse stickers for Washington Township residents are now available at the township’s transfer station and recycling center.

The $20 annual permits, which must be affixed to your car, allows purchasers to dispose of trash and recyclables at the transfer/recycling center off Route 16 east of Rouzerville with a $3 charge per bag, and specific charges for other items. The permits can be purchased at the transfer station.

While Washington Township does not offer residential trash pickup, the center is open Thursday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:10 p.m. Center officials note not all plastics are recyclable, and they accept recycling items numbered 1-8 only. The township also does not accept plastic bags, which they advised should be kept and reused or discarded.

Recycling is only available for residential recycling.  Cardboard, scrap metal and leaves will still be accepted from everyone on any given day of operation. NO CHANGES will be made to recycle items for which a fee is charged, such as brush, batteries, grass and tires.  These alterations are being made to try to control the cost of the ever-changing recycling operation and will continue to allow Washington Township to offer this program to its residents.

Information about both the refuse transfer station and recycling center can be obtained via the embedded links.

Several residential trash pickup and recycling service companies are listed in the telephone classified pages., but the Township does not endorse any particular provider, officials noted.
