HAGERSTOWN, Md. – The Washington County Arts Council has unveiled a powerful new exhibit exploring themes of recovery and resilience. Titled “Happiness by Choice – ReStory Your Life,” the exhibit opened on Sept. 5 as part of the 6th Annual Washington Goes Purple initiative.
The exhibit aims to celebrate the courage of individuals on the journey of recovery from substance use and mental health challenges through the transformative power of art. It features works that challenges stigma and promotes understanding surrounding these issues.
The exhibit will run through Oct. 1 at the Washington County Arts Council galleries, 34 S. Potomac St., Suite 100.
For those unable to attend in person, a virtual exhibit is available online. The Arts Council encourages visitors to use the A&E Parking Deck at 25 Renaissance Way for convenient access to the galleries.
The Washington County Arts Council is accepting submissions from artists interested in participating in this exhibit. This presents an opportunity for local artists to contribute to an important dialogue on recovery and mental health through their creative works. The exhibit is funded in part by grants from the Maryland State Arts Council and supported by Washington County government.
