MERCERSBURG — More than 100 crafters, artisans, jewelers, retailers and food vendors will line the square and nearby streets on Saturday, Sept. 28, for the Tuscarora Area Chamber of Commerce’s 45th Annual Mercersburg Townfest.

The 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. event will be on the square and on E. and W. Seminary Streets in the quaint, historic town, Chamber officials said.

All types of vendors will display their products and services including 3D printing products, wooden puzzles, stained glass, liquid art, tie dye, gemstones, handmade jewelry and crafts, sourdough baked goods, jerky, cut flowers, dried flowers, wreaths and crocheted shawls. Non-profit vendors also will be selling caramel apples, cookies, baked goods and more.

On W. Seminary, the Kids Korner is back this year at Mercersburg Elementary School where youngsters can enjoy activities from face painting to board breaking with Thompson’s Karate Studio. The James Buchanan High School and Middle School bands will perform field tunes, and The Conococheague Institute will have children’s games and a booth to explain how herbs were used on the frontier and around the homestead in the 18th Century. The Pennsylvania Dairyman’s Milkshakes truck, hosted by the Band Boosters, also will be on hand.

On E. Seminary, Amish Donuts will tantalize visitor tastebuds with their one-of-a-kind donuts. Live music will be provided by Robert Twine and Dan Craytor in the Events Area. Straw bales and picnic tables will be available for participants to sit, eat and enjoy the fall festivities.

In the square, food truck vendors will cover all the cravings from BBQ, Asian cuisine, jerk chicken and hot dogs to snow cones and popcorn treats. Visitors won’t want to miss 92.1 The Goat as they do segments of live broadcasting from 11a.m.-1p.m. next to the Mansion House.

Townfest draws more than 7,000 people each year, and the events are on rain or shine. Event sponsors are Wellspan Health, Herbruck’s Blue Springs, Snider’s Elevator and Community State Bank.
