GREENCASTLE- As the 2024-25 school year for Greencastle-Antrim School District nears, Antrim Township officials have implemented several road safety enhancements. The township has repainted crosswalks and added new traffic control measures around the school campus to improve safety for students and residents.

In addition to the campus improvements, speed radar display signs have been installed on roads throughout the township, including near the school grounds. These signs aim to remind drivers of their speed and encourage compliance with posted limits.

Township officials emphasized that while they are taking proactive steps, community cooperation is essential for road safety. They urged drivers to slow down, watch for pedestrians and children, avoid phone use while driving, and exercise caution, especially as school traffic increases.

The safety initiatives come in response to ongoing concerns about speeding on both township and state-managed roads. Officials noted that while they work closely with Pennsylvania State Police, law enforcement cannot monitor all areas continuously.

Greencastle Borough has also installed speed radar signs in some locations to complement the township’s efforts. With these measures in place, Antrim Township expressed hope for a safe and successful school year for Greencastle-Antrim students, faculty, staff, and administration
