HARRISBURG- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that lane restrictions on northbound Route 15 in Adams County are being lifted. The restrictions have been in place from Mile 5 to Mile 10 near Gettysburg for work associated with an ongoing pavement preservation project.
Long-term restrictions will resume on two sections of northbound Route 15 on Monday, July 15.
Weather permitting, left lane restrictions will be implemented on northbound Route 15 from the Maryland state line to the Route 134 (Taneytown Road) Exit, and from the Route 116 (Hanover Road) Exit to the Route 394 (Shrivers Corner Road) Exit.
The contractor will perform shoulder and guiderail upgrades, concrete road patching, diamond grinding of the pavement surface and adjacent structure repairs. In mid-September, the contractor will close the right lane and perform the same work.
The contractor also is scheduled to restore the pavement where a pipe replaced in April just south of the Steinwehr Avenue interchange. There will be lane closures in both directions of Route 15 for this work.
Motorists should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.
This work is part of a 14.8-mile pavement preservation project that includes diamond grinding, milling and overlaying ramps and shoulders, guide rail replacement, pipe replacement, and other miscellaneous activities on Route 15 in Freedom, Cumberland, Mounty Joy and Straban townships, Adams County.
New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc., of New Enterprise, PA, is the contractor on this $ 8,318,599 project. All work is expected to be completed by February 19, 2025.
