Naturalist and Institute educator, Mary Claire King will lead a family hike along part of the Appalachian Trail on Sunday, March 17.

The Institute invites area families on a free, guided hike along the Appalachian Trail on Sunday, March 17 from 1 to 3 p.m. as part of their Naturalist Discovery Series of programs.

Led by an Institute naturalist, hikers will explore some of the wonders to be found in the woods and along the byways.

“We are fortunate to live in an area that the legendary Appalachian Trail crosses through in several nearby locations,” said Pam Rowland, Institute education director and program organizer. “We enjoy exploring various sections of the trail.”

The hike is geared for families with children age 7 and older.

The event is free but pre-registration is required. Register online at The Institute’s website:  www.natureandcultureinstitute.org. The meeting place for the hike will be sent after registration.

This program is underwritten in part by Naturalist Discovery Series sponsors Pam and Bruce Rowland, and by Marge Kiersz, Lucinda D. Potter, CPA, and SEK CPAs & Advisors, with additional support from The Institute’s Today’s Horizon Fund contributors: The Nora Roberts Foundation; and the Carolyn Terry Eddy Family: Carolyn, with daughters Connie Fleagle & Kim Larkin.
