WAYNESBORO- The Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library in Waynesboro, PA, is gearing up for an exciting lineup of March events catering to adults, children, and teens. Situated at 45 East Main Street, this vibrant community hub offers a diverse range of programs designed to engage and entertain individuals of all ages. Children’s Programs:

A Bedtime Story Sunday, March 17 7:00 – 7:30 PM

Join us for a special St. Patrick’s Day story as Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library hosts our monthly Bedtime Story on Sunday, February 11 at 7:00 PM. A variety of stories will be shared by Miss Janet and other guest readers.

Music & Movement Thursday, March 7, 14, 21, 28 11:00 – 11:30 AM

Join us for this fun energetic program geared toward children ages two through four, older siblings are invited. Come sing your heart out and move to the beat! Music & Movement is a regular library program. Snacks provided.

Preschool Storytime Friday, March 1, 8, 15, 22, (29th closed for Good Friday) 11:00 – 11:45 AM

Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library welcomes preschoolers ages 2-4 (siblings of all ages are also welcome) for a fun time of songs, stories, and activities in the library’s Community Room, 2nd floor. Preschool Story Time is a regular library program. Snacks included.

Join Miss Mary Anne for a story about a little girl who lives in China and misses her father who works far, far away. It is a story about children everywhere and demonstrates how a family’s love endures. Followed by a craft and snack.

Pick a new challenge or complete the one you began in February

Calling all LEGO Lovers ages 5 – 11, come join us in the Maker Space. Bring LEGOS from home or use LEGOS supplied by the library. Snacks included.

“Moon’s First Friends: One Giant Leap for Friendship”

Join us for a delightful story read by Miss Mary Anne about the first manned moon landing and how the moon shows off for the early Earth people by going through her phases. Followed by a craft and moon pies

STEAM Express with Miss Julie Saturday, March 9 10:00AM – 12:00PM

Kids Grade K – 5 join us in the Maker Space for the March STEAM Challenge: When Math Meets Art with Instructor, Julie Diaz. Registration is encouraged as space is limited.

Preschool Storytime Friday, March 15 11:00 – 11:45 AM

“It’s St. Patrick’s Day!”

Join us for a story about 2 young children and how they celebrate many of the Irish Holiday traditions.

Wear something green, learn an Irish song and join Miss Mary Anne as she teaches us how to do the Irish Reel. Followed by a craft and snack.

BINGO Club Tuesday, March 19 5:30 – 6:30 PM

Kids ages 8-12 Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library invites you to join us for BINGO Club!

There are many types of BINGO and ways to play. We are going to have fun exploring some of them. Snacks and prizes are provided.

“Last One in Is a Rotten Egg!”

Join us for a delightful Easter story read by Miss Janet about the importance of sharing and learning sometimes, the last one is not always the rotten egg. Followed by an Easter Egg Hunt inside or weather permitting, outside.

STEM – Is the Moon Really Full of Holes? Saturday, March 23 10:00AM – 12:00PM

Kids Grade K – 5

Join Miss Mary Anne and Miss Janet in the Community Room as we get to know the moon. What are craters? How are they made? What do they look like? Join us as we make some craters!

Registration is encouraged.

Kindly Canines Tuesday, March 26 6:00 – 7:00 PM

Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library welcomes ages 5-11 in the library’s Children’s Room to read to a variety of therapy dogs. Children may select different books from the library and/or bring their own favorite book from home to read. Kindly Canines is a regular library program held during the school year on Tuesdays at 6:00 PM. Pre-registration is encouraged.

Anime Club

March 6, 4:00 PM – Teens ages 12-18, do you love to watch anime, read manga, and even draw characters? Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library invites you to join us for our first Anime Club of 2024, when we will make shrinky dink keychains / jewelry. Anime Club is a regular program at the library on 1st & 3rd Wednesdays.

We read & discuss our favorite / least favorite manga, choose anime shows & movies to watch together, and do various games, crafts, & other activities.

March 20, 4:00 PM – Teens ages 12-18, do you love to watch anime, read manga, and even draw characters? Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library invites you to join us for our first Anime Club of 2024, when we will learn all about Japanese fashion trends and niche styles of various kinds. Anime Club is a regular program at the library on 1st & 3rd Wednesdays.

We read & discuss our favorite / least favorite manga, choose anime shows & movies to watch together, and do various games, crafts, & other activities.

Art Saturday Kits

March 16, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM – Teens ages 12-18, stop by Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library to pick up your art kit!

On the 3rd Saturday of each month, we announce a new Art Saturday Kit.

Art kits consist of a paper bag containing all (or most of) the supplies you’ll need to complete an art or craft project at home. The instructions are usually via a video link (also posted on our social media).

Art Kits are geared towards teens ages 12-18, but older kids are welcome to give it a try, too.

Chess Club

March 23, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM – Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library is now hosting Chess Club on 4th Saturdays! With the growth of school chess clubs and opportunities to play online, chess has never been more popular. Worldwide, an estimated 650 million people play the game. Chess sparks creativity and imagination, demonstrates actions & consequences, improves reading skills, and is just a fun way to connect with others!

Come to sharpen your skills, or learn for the very first time. The club leader will show beginners how to play, move the pieces, & use basic strategy. Bring your own chess set if you have one. We also have extras available.

This club is geared towards ages 9 & up.

Players of all levels welcome!

Dungeons and Dragons Adventurers League

March 16, 10:30 AM – 3:30 PM – Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library announces a brand-new program for Teens ages 12-18. D&D Adventurers League – Teen Edition is an ongoing official campaign for Dungeons & Dragons, a fantasy-themed game where players team up to adventure, explore, and level up! Characters made here can be played anywhere there’s an Adventurers League event. Pencils, character miniatures, dice, and snacks will be provided. Players are welcome to bring any of their own! Initial space is limited, so Registration is Required. Please register at ahmfl.org on the Programming Calendar to reserve your spot at the table. Let’s roll! This program will take place monthly on 3rd Saturdays.

Pinhole Cameras Workshop

March 23, 2:00-3:30 PM – Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library invites teens and kids ages 9-18 to come make a Pinhole Camera with us! What is it? A Pinhole Camera is a DIY eclipse viewing device, and the goal is to safely observe the upcoming solar eclipse on April 8th! Guest teacher Mary Anne Stanley will teach us how to make a Pinhole Camera, & we’ll also decorate them to make them personalized. Please know that we will be using box cutters, but we will have cut gloves and safety glasses for each participant to use. Registration is Required! Pokemon Club

March 9, 1:30–2:45 PM – Kids & Teens, Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library invites you to join us for Pokemon Club! This club is dedicated to battling via the Pokemon card game. If you don’t already know how to play, leaders Chad & Kurt Ewell will teach you everything you need to know! Feel free to bring your own deck if you have one. We will also have decks here. Pokemon Club is a regular library program that meets on 2nd Saturdays.

Do you have online games to play & no one to play with? Looking for a game to play but don’t know where to start? Join us on our AHMFL Teen Discord to see what games are happening! We play online multiplayer games such as Among Us, Jackbox, Unfortunate Spacemen, Gartic Phone, Minecraft, and more. Put in your vote for what you want to play!

To join us, you’ll need to be a member of AHMFL’s Teen Discord, since this is how we meet up, choose games, & share codes to access our game lobbies. To become a member, teens must return a permission slip signed by a parent/guardian. Please contact AHMFL Teen Librarian Miss Gina at (717) 762-3335 to request a slip. Unfortunately, Discord has a strict age 13+ policy, so we direct 12-yr-old patrons to try our in-person Game Nights instead, until they turn 13.

Online Teen Game Nights are a regular program on alternating Tuesdays, 5:45-6:45 PM. This is our last Online Teen Game Night of 2023. Please stay tuned for 2024 dates.
