A group of StoryWalk® participants enjoyed toasting marshmallows for s’mores at a campfire after a walk on the story trail last winter. The Institute’s next story trail event is on Feb. 11 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Pine Hill Recreation Area.

WAYNESBORO—Area families are invited to join The Institute for a walk along the story trail on Sunday, Feb. 11 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Pine Hill Recreation Area.

Kids join a guided walk and activities along the story trail as they read a story book, then make a special craft project to take home. A campfire will warm up the group who will also make and enjoy s’mores!

The book for February is Winter is Here by award-winning author Kevin Henkes.

“This book celebrating winter was installed in January, and it’s perfect for savoring the season—the sights, sounds and smells of winter. Snow falls, animals burrow, and children prepare for the wonders winter brings,” said Pam Rowland, Institute director of education.

The child-friendly text introduces basic concepts of language and the unique beauty of the winter season, and colorful illustrations by Laura Dronzek capture the wonders of winter.

The event is free, but pre-registration is required by Feb. 8. Register online at: www.NatureAndCultureInstitute.org

For more information, email [email protected] or call 717-762-0373. Limited to 20 children.

All families are welcome, but activities are geared for preschool and elementary age kids.
