CARLISLE- Newborns atUPMC Magee-Womens Hospitals in Central Pa. are celebrating the holidays dressed in one-of-a-kind UPMC Magee-Womens onesies and special handmade Polar Express themed hats made by local volunteer crocheters. As an extra special memory, Pinnacle Health Auxiliary members have lovingly made and donated Christmas stockings, a holiday tradition of the group since 1992.

The celebrations at UPMC Magee-Womens in Central PA. are extra special this year because UPMC Harrisburg, UPMC Lititz, UPMC Memorial and UPMC Carlisle, all part of the UPMC Magee-Womens network, have been recognized as a 2023-2024 High Performing Hospital for Maternity Care (Uncomplicated Pregnancy) by U.S. News & World Report. In addition to the High Performing in Maternity Care recognition UPMC Carlisle also received a new recognition: Maternity Care Access Hospital. This designation recognizes hospitals that provide access to quality care for expectant parents – serving communities that would otherwise be considered maternity care deserts.

“We are delighted to celebrate the holidays with our families and this year, we also celebrate the various recognitions received by the UPMC Magee-Womens team,” said Allison Trowell, vice president, UPMC Women and Children’s Services in Central Pa.  “UPMC Magee-Womens has a long-standing history of providing compassionate and exceptional care in central Pennsylvania. These recognitions are testament to the hard work of our teams and the pride they take in caring for women and families in our community.”

UPMC Magee-Womens provides the state’s largest network of top-rated maternity care. Across the hospitals with obstetric services, UPMC delivers close to 25,000 babies each year.
