CHAMBERSBURG – The 9th Annual First Responders Appreciation Day will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 8, with volunteers putting together care packages to deliver to more than 30 first responder stations in Franklin County.

The community is invited to help by making thank-you cards, donating snacks, beverages, supplies, or money. Donations can be dropped off at the Chambersburg Chamber no later than Tuesday, Dec. 5.

Here are some specific ideas for donations:

  • Individually wrapped snacks and beverages, such as granola bars, protein bars, nuts, trail mix, cheese and peanut butter crackers, mints or gum, chips, beef jerky, candy, small packs of donuts, microwave popcorn, sports drinks, and powder packets of sports drinks/teas.
  • Supplies for the station, such as large cans of coffee, K-cups, hand sanitizer, small memo books, sticky notes, highlighters, black ink pens, and lip balm.
  • Monetary donations to be used for extra snacks for goody bags, gift cards for food/supplies, etc.

Thank-you cards can be made by children of all ages. Be sure to include a heartfelt message of appreciation for the first responders.
