CHAMBERSBURG- Secretary Russell Redding of the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture traveled to Benders Potatoes in Franklin County to meet with the Executive Committee of Potatoes USA.

Potatoes USA is the marketing organization for more than 2,000 potato farming families operating across the United States, including around 5,400 acres of potatoes grown in Pennsylvania each year. The organization provides culinary potato inspiration to key audiences, as well as useful tools, education, and support to keep growers at the top of their game.

“We are proud of our potato growers here in Pennsylvania,” said Secretary Redding. “They are a vital part of our agricultural economy and help to make Pennsylvania the top producer of potato chips in the nation.”

Secretary Redding also highlighted the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s investment in programs like the PA Potato Research Program and the PA Vegetable Marketing and Research Program to help the potato industry continue to thrive.

“We are committed to supporting our potato growers and helping them to succeed,” said Secretary Redding. “We know that a strong potato industry is good for the entire Commonwealth.”
