WAYNESBORO- The Waynesboro Area School District sponsored a Parent and Community Night at Waynesboro Senior High School’s Auditorium on September 13, 2023, starting at 6 p.m. About 40 people responded to the invitation.

According to District Director of Student Support Services and event organizer Stephanie States, the event was organized in response to parents’ questions. “There were concerns about resources available to students who may face various problems over the course of the year” she said. “The program started with a focus on mental health support, but we expanded this to other, related services”.

A range ten organizations were present to discuss the capabilities they make available to families.

Following open discussions outside the auditorium, there were four presentations. These included

· Bullying Prevention by Erika Tattilla

· Drugs and Alcohol Prevention by Katelyn Beckner

· Suicide Prevention by Alex Shatzer, and

· Cyber Safety by Jessica Crouse

The event concluded at 7:30 pm.

“Things are different these days” said States. “We intend to be on the watch for and prepared to respond with suitable support whenever we detect problems”.
