HARRISBURG- Google and the Pennsylvania state system of higher education have partnered to offer Google Career Certificates to students. The program offers PASSHE students the opportunity to learn skills that are needed for vacant jobs right now, such as cybersecurity, data analytics, digital marketing, and business intelligence. Completing the program requires students to finish coursework and projects assigned to them through Google, which could be completed in 3-6 months, putting in 10 hours a week.

“We are creating a direct pipeline for Pennsylvania students to get on the path of success right out of the gate allowing you to chart your course,” said Gov. Shapiro.

The partnership will pair online training with PASSHE students’ undergraduate courses, allowing them to earn a Google Career Certificate during their regular undergraduate programs. This means that students can engage in courses through which they can earn these certifications or Google certifications, which means that they can double down on their credential and the value that they bring into the workforce.

The program aims to provide students with a head start on other applicants and help them be ready to fill vacant jobs in just a few months. This is part of the growth with Google’s mission to provide opportunity and economic opportunity for Americans across the country and partnerships like this allow them to reach learners who can make the most of these opportunities and lean into local support through their university.

Dan Greenstein, Chancellor of PASSHE, said that this partnership grows on a big foundation of what they call nondegree credentialing, which is what students want, what employers need, and what you expect your public, state-owned public universities to do.

Giving students at Pennsylvania state colleges more access to high-paying jobs is the goal of this partnership between Google and PASSHE. This is a great opportunity for students to boost their resume and be ready to fill those jobs in just a few months.
