GREENCASTLE- Greencastle Rescue Hose Company will host two events in the upcoming weeks that are free and open to the public.
Sunday, Aug. 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. there will be a celebration of life for two Past RHC Fire Chiefs held at the fire station’s meeting room- 842 South Washington Street. Friends, family and co-workers of Chief Gary Hawbaker and Chief Dick Mellott will gather to share stories, catch up with others in attendance and show appreciation for all they did for our organization as well as the many years of service to the community. Light refreshments will be available.
Saturday, Sept. 9 at 8:30 a.m. Mayor Thomas, emergency services personnel, and residents will walk from Eastern Avenue to Center Square and then on to the Greencastle-Antrim Veteran’s Memorial located at 60 North Washington Street to remember those lost and those still suffering from the September 11, 2001 attacks. Those who wish to attend the remembrance can bring their chairs to North Washington Street by 9 a.m. to show their support. Additionally, a Bluegrass concert by D&S Bluegrass Band will be held that same day at the fire station from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
