SHIPPENSBURG- Shippensburg, is gearing up for its 42nd Annual Corn Festival on Saturday, Aug. 26 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festival boasts 250 craft and food vendors, free family entertainment, and children’s activities including face painting.
Car enthusiasts can enjoy a car show on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. at Shippensburg First Church of God. Dash plaques will be given to the first 75 cars, and the event is free.
For those who love corn, there will be a corn eating contest near the main stage at noon. The contest will feature 10 contestants who will compete to see how many ears of corn they can eat in three minutes. The first-place winner will receive $50 and a handcrafted plaque, while second place will receive $35 and third place will receive $15.
The Shippensburg Corn Festival is a free event. The festival is run by volunteers who contribute the festival’s profits to local projects that preserve the community’s history and promote its future.
