John Poniske, a Waynesboro Rotary Alum, former Marine, teacher of history and journalism, and author of Civil-War era books read from one of his books – Fire-Eaters Snakebit Book II. John noted that conflict was a major crucible of our Nation. He plans to write 19 books on the war in the
Fire- Eaters series; nine will deal with the conflict itself and nine will deal with Reconstruction. He pointed out Reconstruction was critical to the future of the Union, and the results and consequences of the incomplete, and the poorly executed Reconstruction plan plagues us to this day.
The author noted the books are rigorously researched and three hours of research is needed for every hour of writing.
